What is the Saskatchewan Development Series?
SDS provides opportunities for members of Triathlon Saskatchewan to develop, participate, and earn points in local events culminating in series awards for participants and Clubs.
Purpose of the Saskatchewan Development Series
The goal of is to increase member engagement and development in the sport of triathlon in Saskatchewan.
1. To increase the number and quality of triathlon and multisport events in Saskatchewan.
2. To promote an active healthy lifestyle and culture that encourages long-term engagement in the sport.
3. To prepare athletes and Clubs for higher levels of training and competition
4. To create an inclusive environment where both new and experienced athletes thrive.
Who is Eligible?
– Annual Members of Triathlon Saskatchewan
– 2025 Campbell and Haliburton Athlete Excellence Program Members
Clubs:
Triathlon Saskatchewan Sanctioned Clubs in Saskatchewan
Athletes:
– Youth aged 12-15 (age on Dec 31st, 2026)
– Age Group aged 18 + (age on December 31, 2026)
– Open to all levels and abilities from beginners to seasoned triathletes
Types of Events
AGE GROUP EVENTS DISTANCE
*Distances may vary slightly at each event*
– Sprint, 750 Swim, 20 km Bike, 5 km Run
– Standard, 1500 Swim, 40 km Bike, 10 km Run
YOUTH EVENTS DISTANCE
*Distances may vary slightly at each event*
– Individual Triathlon: Each athlete will complete a 400 m Swim, 8 km Bike, 2 km Run
The distances for all SDS and YDS may vary slightly but events will meet Provincial and World Triathlon rules.

Series Awards & Points System
Participants will accumulate points based on their Þnishing position in each event. Here is the point system:
– 1.5 X Points for participating in the Provincial Championships at the Echo Lake Multisport Festival.
– Tie-Breaking Criteria: Highest number of event wins; Highest number of top 5 finishes.
– Points will be calculated with the top 3 total point scores factoring into the Series awards for individuals and Clubs. If you participate in 5 events, only your top 3 point scores will count towards your overall total.
Awards will be given to:
– Top Three Youth (age 12-15 by gender)
– Top Three Age Group (by age category: <40, 40-59, 60+)
– Top Club (for clubs accumulating the most points)
