Sanctioning

Triathlon Saskatchewan (Tri Sask) is a membership type of not-for-profit corporation that accepts legal duties and responsibilities on behalf members, including athletes, coaches, volunteers, race directors and officials to ensure the sport of triathlon is safe, compliant with Provincial Not for Profit law as well as the policies and practices of Sask Sport, Triathlon Canada, the National Sport Organization for Triathlon, World Triathlon, as well as sponsors and donors.

Since 2022, we have invested significantly in leadership capacity building at the local sport organization and event organizing levels. We held a leadership retreat, sponsored a race director conference, developed an event management course, and introduced new forums for communication and forms of engagement.

In 2024, new policies and requirements have emerged around the implementation of Safe Sport which necessitates new requirements for Sanctioned Clubs.  Below you will find these requirements and the benefits summarized.

Sanctioned Club Requirements:

Local Club Boards, and Organizing Committee Leaders, Coaches, and Officials

    • Review of Tri Sask Policies, including MAP, Race Sanctioning, and Safe Sport.
    • Verification of NCCP training and certification, PTO official training, Respect in Sport Training.
    • Safe Sport implementation at an individual level involves manual collection of Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.
  • Note: We are working to automate this process within CCN Bikes member registration to ensure compliance with policies and practices. The cost is limited to the annual membership and end user fee of $25.00 for CRC.
