SUMMARY:Freeze\, Breeze & Wheeze Triathlon (La Ronge)
DESCRIPTION:Freeze\, Breeze & Wheeze Triathlon – La Ronge\, SK \nDate: August 30\, 2026 \n\nThe iconic Freeze\, Breeze & Wheeze Triathlon returns to La Ronge SK\, a race rooted in tradition\, resilience\, and the raw beauty of northern Saskatchewan.\n\nSet along the shores of Lac La Ronge\, this event offers more than just a test of endurance. It’s a journey through a landscape that tells a story\, crystal-clear waters\, rugged boreal forest\, and terrain shaped by the wildfires of 2025\, now standing as a symbol of strength and renewal.\n\nIn 2026\, the journey and stories generated are ready to be retold in two distances ~ sprint for those who are getting back into or new to triathlon and would like to try it (Try a Tri) AND standard distance for those who are experienced triathletes who are comfortable swimming 1200 meters\, riding 40 kms and running a 10 k.\n\nSprint Distance – Try a Tri ~ 500 m swim\, 20 km bike\, 4 km trail run\n\nThe day begins at Patterson Park Beach\, where athletes step into the cool waters and set off on a 500m swim\, rounding the point and heading toward the boat launch.\nAs you emerge from the lake and make your way to the first transition\, where the race truly begins to unfold.\nThe 20km bike takes you north along a freshly paved road\, with sweeping views of the lake and the ancient Precambrian Shield guiding your way toward the Don Allen Ski Trails into the second transition.\nFrom there\, the final challenge awaits\, a 5km trail run along the Summit Loop. The course climbs steadily through rolling hills to a scenic high point\, where an aid station offers a brief reset before you push the pace downhill toward the finish line.\n\nWhether it’s your first triathlon or a new challenge\, this distance is designed to test you\, reward you\, and leave you wanting more.\n\nNote: Sprint swim cut-off is 30 minutes. Bike Cut-off is 11:30 am. Finish cut-off is 1:15 pm. Prepare for a wetsuit mandatory swim though the decision will be made one hour prior to event start based on the actual water temperature. \n\nStandard Distance  ~ 1200 m swim\, 40 km bike\, 10 km run\nFor experienced athletes\, the Olympic distance delivers a course that is both demanding and unforgettable.\n\nThe 1200m swim begins at the boat launch\, sending athletes out toward the beach before a short land transition loop brings you back into the water for the return swim. It’s a unique start that demands both control and composure.\nOut of the water\, you’ll transition onto the bike and leave the downtown core behind\, heading north toward the Don Allen Ski Trails.\nThe 40km bike continues past the trails to a turnaround point near Sucker River before heading back south. Smooth pavement and endless northern views make this a fast and scenic ride\, but pacing will be everything.\nAs you return to the Don Allen Ski Trails and into transition\, the final test begins.\nThe 10km trail run (two laps of the Summit Loop) challenges you with rolling climbs to the summit before rewarding you with a fast\, downhill push to the finish. It’s here\, in the final stretch\, that the race is truly decided.\n\nThis event is for the experienced triathlete as the distance is designed to test you\, reward you\, and leave you wanting more.\nNote: Standard swim cut-off is 50 minutes. Bike Cut-off is 11:30 am. Finish cut-off is 1:15 pm. Prepare for a wetsuit mandatory swim though the decision will be made one hour prior to event start based on the actual water temperature. \n\nParticipants must have a valid Saskatchewan Triathlon membership (adults $85\, includes Tri Sask and Canada fee) or day of event license ($40)\, which will be obtained during the registration process.  Note\, membership/license provides important liability insurance coverage; is required by permitting bodies that allow the race to take place on public roads\, parks etc. \nRegistration Options & Pricing \n\n\n\n \nPrice\n\n\nSprint Triathlon ~ Try a Tri\n$35.00\n\n\nStandard Triathlon\n$50.00
